SAN DIEGO, CA – A 20-year-old man was found shot to death Wednesday afternoon in an apartment in San Carlos, police said.

San Diego police Sgt. Bryan Pendleton said that shortly after 3 p.m., police received a call about a shooting at the Canyon View apartment complex on Navajo Road near Jackson Drive.

Officers found the victim inside a bedroom of a third-floor apartment in a three-story building in the gated complex. Paramedics who responded pronounced him dead.

Initial reports were that a 25-year-old man called police to report that he had accidentally shot his friend, Pendleton said.

No one else was believed to have been inside the apartment when the shooting occurred, Pendleton said.

The friend was taken to police headquarters in downtown San Diego for questioning.

Homicide detectives were at the apartment investigating Wednesday night.

Bainbridge, GA- Two suspects have been charged with the April 8th murder of James Curtis Christian Jr.

19-year-old man fatally shot while handling a weapon with a friend

Posted on April 8, 2009. Filed under: accident, Colorado |

Colorado Springs, Colorado – Officers responded to the shooting at 12:07 a.m. Hennessey and a second man were handling a weapon when it went off, hitting Hennessey in the abdomen, police said. Hennessey was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police did not identify the second man, saying the case was under investigation.

Prosecutors with the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office likely will determine whether charges are merited.

“The El Paso County Coroners Office will rule a death a homicide anytime a person dies as the result of the actions of another person,” said Lt. David Whitlock, police spokesman. “As such, no inference about criminal culpability should be made based on those rulings alone.”

The incident puts the city’s homicide count this year at eight, the same number seen this time last year. More on Gazette.com
