Teen shot to death in home basement
WHITING, IL — Police are looking for suspects in the apparent homicide of a 19-year-old who was found dead Monday night in the basement of a home he shared with his parents.
Police so far have held several “persons of interests” but have no suspects or eyewitnesses in the shooting of Jordan Linko, said Detective Lt. Sam?Abner.
Police were called to the house in the 1600 block of Center Street by Linko’s father, who heard a gunshot from his son’s basement apartment around 8:45 p.m. He ran to the basement and found his son, bleeding and unresponsive, Abner said.
Linko was shot in the neck and died at the scene, Lake County Coroner Chief Deputy Jeff Wells said. No weapon was found at the murder scene, nor did it appear anything had been stolen.
Linko had a number of friends who frequently visited the apartment, but so far none of those interviewed say they were present at the time of the shooting, Abner said. More on Post-Tribune
