3 jailed, 4th man sought in shooting death of a teenager
Rome, Georgia – Three people have been arrested in connection with a brutal robbery Wednesday on East 19th Street that led to the death of a Cedartown teenager, but police were still searching late Thursday for the alleged gunman.
A warrant for murder was issued Thursday for Bryan Edward Williams, 39, of Rome, aka David Jones, who is considered armed and dangerous, said Lt. Gary Clayton of the Rome Police Department.
Police suspect he was the triggerman in the death of 19-year-old Jeffrey Pledger of Cedartown during a violent robbery attempt on East 19th Street in Rome around 5 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
Trenton Tyrice Williamson, 18, of 406 Brown St., and Chiresco Rodriquez Montgomery, 28, of Cedartown, were also arrested and charged with plotting to rob Pledger. Police did not elaborate on their roles in the robbery. More on Rome News-Tribune

College Park, Georgia – Cordele Police Department arrested Jamal Hill on a warrant from College Park.
Hill is accused of participating in a home invasion that ended in the death of his alleged accomplice and injury to a female victim, according to http://www.wsbtv.com.
Hill and 23-year old Calvin Lavant of College Park allegedly burst into an apartment located in the Southern Lakes apartments on Lakemont Drive in College Park around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The resident of the apartment, Charles Bailey, told police that he thought it was the end of his life. He and ten other people were in his apartment celebrating at a birthday party when two masked gunmen burst through the patio door.
“They just came in and separated the men from the women and demanded wallets and cell phones,” said George Williams of the College Park Police Department.
Bailey further informed authorities that the suspects counted their bullets. Apparently Hill was guarding the men when one of the victims retrieved a gun from a backpack and turned the tables on the situation. Hill reportedly fled the scene.
The victim with the gun then proceeded to the next room where Lavant had watch over the females at the party. The guy with the gun called for the girls to get down and he started shooting. The suspect just jumped out of the window.”
Lavant’s body was found later just outside his apartment building which was near the scene of the crime. More on Cordele Dispatch

ATHENS, Ga. – A University of Georgia professor who police suspect in the fatal shootings of his ex-wife and two men outside a theater near campus Saturday disappeared in his Jeep after dropping his children off with a neighbor, authorities said.
A nationwide manhunt was on for 57-year-old George Zinkhan, whom neighbors and others described as a quiet, introverted and respected marketing professor at the university in Athens.
Members of a local theater group had gathered midday at the Athens Community Theater when Zinkhan left his children in his car and fired at them, said Athens-Clarke County Police Capt. Clarence Holeman. Killed were Zinkhan’s ex-wife Marie Bruce, 47, Tom Tanner, 40, and Ben Teague, 63, Holeman said. Two others were injured by flying shrapnel. More on Yahoo! News

Atlanta, Georgia – Tyquavious, 13, a seventh-grader at Crawford Long Middle School in southeast Atlanta, was fatally shot when he and two others were playing with a gun that discharged and hit him, police spokesman Eric Schwartz said. Steven Gentry, 20, was arrested on a murder charge.
Police recovered the gun in the apartment. It wasn’t immediately clear who owned the weapon.
Those who knew Tyquavious struggled with his death Friday.
“He had his whole life ahead of him,” said 14-year-old Richard Nash, a friend and former classmate.
Tyquavious spent part of his last evening alive playing a game similar to baseball with a large group of neighborhood boys, Quentin said.
He once lived near Fisher Road, but had moved and transferred to a different middle school, friends said. He was one of eight siblings, friends said.

Bainbridge, GA- Two suspects have been charged with the April 8th murder of James Curtis Christian Jr.
Decatur County Sheriff’s Investigators charged Marquez Taylor, 16, of 128 Black Jack Road, and Willie Earl McGriff, 25, of 115 Rosa Lee Lane in Attapulgus, with the murder of 29-year-old Christian.
Christian was found shot outside of his home at 137 Bruce Road shortly after 3 a.m. on April 8. His girlfriend said he walked into their bedroom and said, “Somebody shot me,” according to investigators.
Christian was found outside of the home where he collapsed, apparently trying to get to his mother’s home, 20 to 30 yards away.
“People in the community pointed us in the right direction, leading us to the suspects and other parties involved that had information,” said Nix.
He said one of the witnesses said they saw Taylor with a gun and ski mask—similar to one found at the scene. Three other witnesses said McGriff had spoken about the shooting in their presence. More on The Post-searchlight
